GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — A plan for a children’s museum in Grand Haven is moving forward, with organizers looking to rent a portion of a building owned by the city.
The proposal would convert a portion of the Central Park Place community center.
Finding a place to take her four children can be a challenge for Danielle Jaimes, who walked by the building Tuesday.
“There’s not really a whole lot around here especially if we want to find to do indoors on a cold day, which we have a lot of,” Jaimes said.

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — The effort to create Grand Haven’s first children’s museum is gaining momentum, with organizers proposing to take over a portion of Central Park Place.

The Grand Haven Children’s Museum is one step closer to becoming a reality.
During a special work session Monday night, City Council heard a proposal to make Central Park Place the museum’s future home.
“Our mission is to engage all children with hands-on learning experiences that spark imagination, pique curiosity, enhance creativity, and develop problem-solving skills in a place of beauty, wonder, and joy,” said museum founder Rachel Dody.
The museum is hoping to lease about 13,500 square feet of Central Park Place for an initial 10-year term, with five 5-year renewal options.
Monday’s discussion focused on the children’s museum portion of the proposal. Community members and organizations submitted many letters and responses to City Council that supported the children’s museum.
