“It’s about having kids learn and be excited about it. And showing the whole community this commitment to kids.”
-Eric Stromberg, Grandparent and Retired Principal
Why start a children’s museum
Children’s museums are vital community spaces that connect us and enrich our lives. They offer children and their grown-ups a place to play, learn, and grow together.
Inspired by the impact of children’s museums in other communities, we’re working to bring a high-quality museum to downtown Grand Haven, providing local access for all children along the West Michigan lakeshore.
When children play, learning happens. And when communities create safe places for play, we all thrive.
Voices from the Community
This short video features community members sharing why a children’s museum is needed — and highlights how much our community values its children.
“It’s absolutely essential to kids and to their families that they have playtime in their lives.”
-Caleb Berko, MacKite
The experience
Step into a children’s museum and watch children and their grownups engage in fun, learning, and connection.
Toddlers explore tunnels, bubbles, and water tables, while younger kids pretend to be teachers, scientists, or surgeons with foam blocks, cranes, and robotic arms.
Older children dive into technology with 3D printers and art workshops led by artists.
It’s a place where creativity and curiosity come to life for all ages.

Children’s museums inspire the next generation of designers, problem-solvers, and collaborators through play and hands-on learning
